A Journey of Many Paths
Carrie's journey is far from linear, a common trait among entrepreneurs and artists. Her husband's 22-year military career led to numerous domestic and international relocations. Despite the challenges, Carrie found fulfillment in her work and her role as a mother. She began her career as a stage director in college, a path initially seen as a hobby rather than a viable career.
She had to overcome this perception, challenging the traditional messaging she received about pursuing a "real job."
The Influence of Place and Diversity
Carrie's personal and professional growth has been significantly influenced by the various places she has lived, including New York City and Washington, DC. We discussed the importance of diversity and connecting with people from different cultures and backgrounds. We also discussed the challenges of being away from a support system and its impact on mental health.
