Living Her Second Chance - JoD Livingston Liver Transplant Recipient

From the moment I met her, I knew she was a special woman. Throughout our many conversations, I have learned that she is changing the change the world. 

"I am a (mostly)watercolor artist creating joyful art from my grateful heart." is how JoDeb describes herself. She is a mom of two plus two rescued pups (her empty-nest babies), wife of a million years. 

Jo D is a liver transplant recipient... We speak about her journey to being diagnosed with liver failure during our conversation and the miracle of life she received. 

She tells the world that she is "LIVING MY SECOND CHANCE." These days, in addition to her art, she is a CASA - Court Appointed Special Advocate, standing up for abused and neglected children in court. She is "fiercely feminine,"...and while she is girlie, loves pink and sparkles, she will warn you not to mistake this for weakness. Jo D is SUPER STRONG and will stand up for herself, and her loved ones, and those who need her.

According to the Mayo Clinic, In 2017, about 8,000 liver transplants were performed in the U.S. among both adults and children. Of those, about 360 involved livers from living donors. At the same time, approximately 11,500 people were registered on the waiting list for a liver transplant.

The average waiting time for a liver transplant is 145 days for adults and 72 days for children.

Currently, there are 107,000 men, women, and children on the national transplant waiting list as of February 2021. 

39,000 transplants were performed in 2020.

17 people die each day waiting for an organ transplant.
